In the afternoon join the MUI team for a land-based citizen science workshop where you might identify turtles with the Olive Ridley Foundation or manta rays with the Manta Trust. For sunset, board the top deck of one of our dive boats to meet the local dolphins on their daily commute. Finish the day with a BBQ on the beach where you will dine on fresh reef fish caught sustainably by the local fishermen of Laamu atoll.

Reconnect with Others

Morning singing bowl meditation is the perfect way to cleanse your mind and start your day. After the meditation connect with others through sharing your experience, thoughts and emotions. Work as a team and learn from one another in our Earth Lab candle making workshop. You will create the perfect (and sustainable) gift for a special someone you wish to gift something to. In the afternoon, meet the resort’s own Boduberu band, have a go at playing the local drums and learn about the significant role this music plays in Maldivian culture. Finish the day at our Chef’s Table where you will be treated to a show of cooking and hear stories of our culinary team’s incredible experiences.

Junior Marine Biology

Is your child always asking questions about the world? Are they fascinated by the ocean and the animals that live within it? Do they want to change the world and make it a better place? Budding conservationists aged 6 to 16 are invited to join the Maldives Underwater Initiative (MUI) team for our Junior Marine Biology program!

Young ocean lovers will complete exciting science experiments, explore the ocean in snorkeling adventures, and learn to make their own conservation videos. MUI has designed the first five specialties and have crafted many more for you to choose when you want more.

Surfing With Tropicsurf

Tropicsurf is positioned as the masters of high-end surfing. Whether it’s your first time in the water, or you’re a seasoned pro, the breaks around the resort offer a huge range of waves suitable to every ability, read more about them all below.

• Access by beach: Shoulders is one of the few ‘paddle to’ beginner waves in the Maldives and is the perfect left-hand surf break to start your surfing journey.

• Access by boat

  • Turtles is a long, soft right-hand wave perfect for beginner to intermediate surfers and those wanting to practice technique.
    
    

  • Petrols is one of the most picturesque breaks around the island that offers a short and punchy left-hand wedge perfect for intermediate and advanced surfers.
    
    

  • Jetty C is one of the most underrated left-hand waves in the Maldives. This break offers long running left hand waves perfect for intermediate and advanced surfers.
    
    

  • Machines is one you may be familiar with. Machines is arguably the most perfect wave in the Laamu Atoll. This right-hand reef break, peels perfectly down the line offering a nice barrel at the start and then a playful wall to follow. A surfer can do everything from getting barreled, to snaps, to cutbacks, to airs. A must see/must surf wave if the conditions are right. 
    
    

  • Outside Ying Yangs. Reacting very much like a beach break due to the straight reef, this break can offer some fun, punchy rides for one or two turns before closing on the reef. Due to the reef and paddle back requirements this wave is recommended for intermediate and advanced surfers.
    
    

  • Ying Yangs Point offers a slow easy take off and some perfect walls to perform slow, stylish cut backs. This wave is recommended for intermediate to advanced surfers.
    
    

  • Inside Ying Yangs is one of the better-known waves in the Laamu atoll and may just be one of the most unique and majestical waves you will ever surf. This wave offers a quick take off, barrel section and running right-hand pearler when the stars align. This wave is only recommended to advanced surfers.

  • Don’t want the hassle of traveling with a surfboard? No worries. Tropicsurf have a full quiver of Firewire boards available for hire.

Beautiful, intelligent animals that have held fascination for centuries, dolphins often make their way through Laamu atoll at sunrise and sunset. Guests frequently witness playful dolphins spinning and diving alongside the boat. On the return voyage, sit back and watch the vibrant colors change in the sky with your on-board marine biologist to give insights on the atoll's underwater life.

Scuba Diving

Six Senses Laamu is the only dive resort in the Laamu Atoll so we are virtually guaranteed of having the dive sites to ourselves when we go out, something that is extremely rare for a world-class diving area and almost unheard of for a place with mantas year-round.

Deep Blue Divers is a PADI 5* dive center. Our multilingual team of professional diving instructors teaches PADI courses ranging from Discover Scuba Diving to Divemaster. We teach in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, Swedish and Dhivehi. All PADI courses are for adults, with youth aged 10+ and children aged 8+ welcome to participate in our children and youth diving programs.

• 6:30 am – 8:30 am Early Morning Dive – Early morning dives are a great way to start the day! Enjoy a leisurely breakfast after your dive.

  9:00 am – 3:00 pm Full Day 2-Tank Dive Trip to 2 Channels – these trips go out to two channels and are geared towards more advanced divers. Advanced certification and Nitrox are strongly recommended. For two-channel trips, a light lunch is provided on the boat (or beach if possible) and there is a surcharge of USD 65 per guest.

  7:00 pm – 9:00 pm Night Dive – Night dives are great in Laamu. We go out on inner reefs where there is no current and also do night dives on our house reef where no boat rides are necessary. See for yourself what changes on the reef at night!

  7:30 pm – 9:30 pm Blackwater Dive – Blackwater dives are for divers who love the weird and wonderful. We attract fascinating and rare critters such as juvenile fish, pygmy squids and more with very bright lights attached to a drift line. A must-do if you’re looking for something new and unusual in diving.

Finding Nemo Snorkeling Trip

Hop on our snorkeling dhoni for a unique snorkeling adventure! The coral reefs of the Laamu atoll are rich in color and underwater marine life. Stargazing

Traditional Maldivian fishing

 

If you can't manage the magic of dawn to fish for your dinner, then a sunset catch could be your thing. Whichever, fishing from a traditional Maldivian dhoni is a unique experience and each has a reward at the end of your line. 

• Early Morning Fishing

  • ​One of our traditional Maldivian fishing dhonis takes you out to the deeper waters of the Laamu atoll just before sunrise where it is likely that you will catch something interesting.   • ​Maldivian fishermen whisper that a big catch is likely at sunset. Organic Garden Tour

We grow more than 40 different herbs, micro herbs and salad leaves in our organic garden. You might catch the refreshing aroma of mint and basil in the morning when cycling by. Every day our chefs collect fresh ingredients for their dishes and our spa therapists collect lemongrass and mint for their herbal ice tea. Our executive chef will guide you through all the different herb, salad and chili varieties and of course introduce you to Herbie, our resident scarecrow.

Heart Of House Tour

Our chief engineer will take you around our desalination plant, our water-bottling station and our Eco Center.
