When You Are Never Enough!

When You Are Never Enough!

NINA'S JOURNAL

You can devote your life to someone, but can they ever truly be content and happy with what you offer?

Does that mean your life holds no value to them?

Do you genuinely believe that giving your all can inspire someone to love you unconditionally?

Think about it.

People often remain unsatisfied, even if you give them everything you have. There will always be room for complaints, a desire for more.

Take Nina, for instance. After more than twenty years of unwavering attention to her partner, was she truly happy?

No; she didn’t believe so.

For her husband, it was never enough.

They had fallen in love as teenagers, madly captivated by each other. They couldn’t wait to get married, and they celebrated when they were finally able to create a home together. They vowed never to part, committing to treating one another with kindness and respect.

Life became a tapestry woven with love, work, home, and a sprinkle of travel; their marriage felt vibrant and fulfilling. Or at least, that’s what Nina thought.

Initially, his job change brought excitement—a promotion celebrated with friends—but little did Nina know that her husband’s new role, which required him to travel to different towns for weeks on end, would soon create a rift in their once-close union.

Saying goodbye became a painful ritual when he left for his trips. She missed him dearly, often shedding tears in his absence. As the months passed, she was forced to adapt to living alone, even as her husband became increasingly entangled in his work.

Doubts crept in. She wrestled with thoughts of infidelity, and they clashed over it, but she eventually recognized that her jealousy stemmed from loneliness. They made up, and soon after, Nina discovered she was two weeks pregnant—one of the happiest moments of their lives.

They welcomed a healthy baby boy, showering him with love, yet Nina felt a lingering sadness that her husband continued to be away so much.

As the years drifted by, their son prepared to leave for college, while her husband still spent a significant amount of time traveling.

When that day finally arrived, Nina found herself once again alone. She missed her husband as she had during their child’s formative years. Upon his return from a trip after their son left for college, they reminisced about how quickly time had passed, recalling precious moments they had shared.

In a moment of vulnerability, Nina confided in her husband about her loneliness now that their son was gone and begged him to stay with her.

He brushed off the subject, dodging the conversation. Nina pressed for an answer, yet he provided no clarity, leaving her in tears. Both understood that it wasn’t financial necessity that drove him away. He openly stated he needed to stay away to feel like himself; it had become a way of life that worked well for him.

Not once did he acknowledge Nina’s feelings.

Wiping her tears, Nina declared that she needed time to think and wanted some space. He merely shrugged in response.

In the days that followed, she immersed herself in shopping, reconnecting with friends and family, and indulging in spa days. She realized she could adapt to a life of pampering, comfortably supported by her family’s inheritance. She no longer felt the need to pine for a husband who couldn’t choose to be with her after all she'd sacrificed for him.

With her thoughts flowing onto paper in elegant cursive, she expressed all her untold feelings.

The next day, she met her husband, two envelopes in hand. One contained her farewell letter; the other held tickets to far-off destinations she had always dreamed of exploring.

With a soft kiss goodbye, she pressed her old wedding ring into his hand.

He stood on the porch, speechless, as she stepped into the cab with her luggage, her face radiant with newfound happiness as she waved him farewell.
